Job description
The Group Safety & Security Manager has a direct line responsibility to the Group Chief Security Officer. Main work consists of coordination and control of S&S measures and documents as well as of crisis management. Controlling, exercising and testing of the local security measures at main locations (Armonk, Kansas City, Munich, London, Hong Kong, Bangalore and Zurich) as well as other locations according to the priority list. Control and assessment of Swiss Re “offshore” business partners with access to Swiss Re network

Constant assessment of the political situation worldwide and respective update of the Swiss Re travel security website and direct information of travellers- Monitoring, enforcement and control of the Clear Desk Guidelines
Deputy of the Group Chief Security Officer and Deputy of the Group Business Continuity Manager
The Group Safety & Security Manager is a permanent member of the Swiss Re Crisis Command Center
The Group Safety & Security Manager decides and acts autonomous in his/her area of competence

The opportunity
Leads and manages the Safety & Security organization worldwide
Prepares, organizes and leads through the decentralized S&S officer workshops and conferences
Trains new S&S officers and supports them wherever necessary
Enforces an incident reporting of S&S relevant incidents Group wide
Sets up and amends the Group Safety & Security Directives - Is involved in setting up local security concepts for large events
Ensures interface and coordination with the Local Safety & Security organisation Zurich
Is constantly assessing the political situation and updates the travel security website
Is responsible for the protection of Swiss Re employees and visitors, physical assets, intellectual property and trade secrets
Assists in investigations of fraud and criminal cases committed against Swiss Re
Involves superior whenever appropriate and informs him about developments
Develops and implements state-of-the-art awareness, training and exercises
Is responsible for gathering and assessing security related information, to determine the probability and to prioritize risks and to develop appropriate preventive measures
Fosters team work and team spirit, motivates and encourages staff, resolves conflict, creates a solution-oriented environment and “getting things done” attitude
Ensures that own and team efforts are aligned with broader corporate environment
Acts with a high degree of independence in his/her practice area
Substitutes the Group Chief Security Officer in his absence
Substitutes the Group Business Continuity Manager in his absence

Compliance and controlling activities:
Ensures through Safety & Security on-site reviews and “hard tests” that all Swiss Re offices fully comply with Swiss Re’s Safety & Security Policy and Directives
Takes remedial action by issuing recommendations to improve ascertained shortcomings and escalates issues to appropriate bodies in a timely fashion
Secures adherence to event and travel security guidelines
Takes an active part in the issue of regular reports on review findings, network, training issues, Swiss Re related incidents and events, travel security and projects

Representation activities:
Represents the GSO during absences of the Group Chief Security Officer
Represents Swiss Re at international and national Security meetings, events and conferences
Speaks and takes part in internal awareness trainings

Interaction with other parties:
In the absence of the Group Chief Security Officer, interacts with BoD, EC, GMB and senior management across all Global Functions, Divisions, Departments and Units within Swiss Re
Interacts with all Local Heads of Swiss Re locations as well as with all Local Safety & Security Officers group wide
Interacts with news organisations, in-country and international security bodies and intelligence and private sector counterparts worldwide

Desired Skills and Experience
University/college of higher education degree or technical training with recess/experience in the range of security and in particular in security concepts, project management, as trainer and organizer
Proven leadership and management skills, incl. process management responsibilities and high level of competency in traditional security skills
Strong negotiator and facilitator / consensus builder open for organisational change, able to cope with difficult situations
Strong capabilities in inspiring and building commitment, fostering integration and teamwork, cultivating key relationships, delivering results
Experience in performing on-site reviews and to carry on negotiations
Global perspective, multicultural understanding, approach and communication skills
High integrity, emotionally intelligent
Good German and very good English skills in word and writing
Excellent Computer user knowledge
Readiness and engagement for continuous development and learning
Is prepared to take unpopular decisions when necessary; is able to interact at all levels
Is willing to travel abroad.
