Position Summary and Responsibilities

Purpose of Role
All Security Managers are required to embrace and promote the Global Security mission. While maintaining the desired level of security system effectiveness, the site security manager will be responsible for guard force management, deploying, implementing, providing assistance and auditing the security programs at the site to ensure they are in compliance with the Global Security Standardization Program. The position will report administratively to the Vice President and General Manager Tasiast and Operationally to the Regional Security Manager.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties

Ensures mine site security operations align with the Global Security Standardization Program
Development and implementation of Global Security strategies at the site.
Ensure Global Security strategies are being correctly implemented and followed at the site.
Responsible to report to Regional Security site self-assessments and corrective actions on annual audit data to improve effectiveness.
Prepare monthly activity reports for the Regional Security Manager by the 5th day of each month.
Provide support and training to the contracted guard force to ensure compliance with Global Security standards and guidelines.
Responsible for all expat personnel protection and site security.
Assist in the development of table top exercises designed to test the effectiveness of the security systems.
Professionally develop national employees in security tactics and strategies.
Develop a succession plan to include national employees.
Performance management, reviews and developmental plans for all senior personnel in the department.
Serves as primary security advisor for the site.

Security support for all departments at Tasiast
Conduct investigations involving theft, fraud, workplace violence, due diligence, etc.
Advise site leadership on risk mitigation strategies and security solutions.
Coordinate special event security and VIP protection plans.
Engage and manage security providers.
Personnel safety/security plans and awareness training.
Collaborate with regional management to advance security integration within departments.
Develop and implement site specific security strategies in areas such as illegal mining, community relations, etc.

Security Program development
Manage information collection and dissemination program.
Oversee security requirements for development and expansion projects.
Serves as primary liaison with Gendarmerie on site.
Develop and conduct informal and formal security related training for all personnel at Tasiast
Incorporate the Voluntary Principles on Human Rights and Security into all security functions.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements
Bachelor degree in criminal justice, security management, or related field.
Experience executing security programs and initiatives in developing countries.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience within the security, military or law enforcement community.
Minimum of five (5) years of industrial security or infrastructure protection experience.
Understanding of host government public security forces and their roles when providing assistance.
Able to articulate well, with excellent presence when briefing management on security program plans and activities.
Excellent written and speaking communications skills at all levels of management.
Ability to effectively deal with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Able to review, analyze, and extract data from various sources.
Intelligent, persuasive, and articulate leader who is able to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical individuals.
Proficient in the use of computers and other communications devices to include MS Office package.
Able to function independently, under pressure, and perform multiple security duties with minimal supervision or guidance.

Additional Qualifications & Skill Requirements
Understanding of mining processes.
Well-developed incident report writing and presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience with project management techniques or related skills.
Experience in developing, forecasting, and managing budgets.
Strong communications skills.
Must speak English and French (at a high level in terms of speaking)
Business continuity and/or crisis management experience.
Team player with a strong inclination towards developing co-operative solutions.
Ability to learn quickly.
Individual is able to prioritize effectively, work within strict deadlines and align individual work with the organization’s business objectives .
