Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
The British Embassy in Paris is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for two full time Security Officer. The local Security Officer working with the Security Manager, will be responsible for the physical protection of the Embassy, Residence and Consular Section, controlling access to the buildings and ensuring that the buildings are secure.

Main Duties / Responsibilities:
Supervising the control of access to our buildings;
Supervising security procedures;
Locking and unlocking procedures;
Supervising contractors as and when required;
Security patrols;
Monitoring the CCTV and alarm systems;
Being the Embassy's first point of contact (phone and physical) during silent hours;
Handling UK Nationals in difficulty in accordance with procedures.


Essential qualifications and experience

Professional proficiency in English and ability to communicate effectively in French;
Candidates will also need to demonstrate that they have the following competencies, as defined by the Civil Service Competency Framework (Band S):
Collaborating and Partnering – Ability to work both in a team and autonomously;
Making Effective Decisions – A cool-head, common-sense and decisiveness are all necessary qualities for the job;
Delivering at Pace – Able to get things done using their own initiative as per procedures;
Managing a Quality Service – Must be courteous and polite while helping British Nationals that may have problems. The successful candidate will need to be smartly turned out and be punctual at all times;
Changing and Improving – The ideal candidate will have an open and flexible approach to new ideas drawing on experience to improve results.

Other benefits and conditions of employment
This is a full-time position of five working days, 35 hours net per week, for a permanent contract (CDI). In addition to this starting salary there are duty payment allowances and the possibility of overtime payments which we expect to add approximately 20-30% (400-600 €) on average to this gross monthly salary.

This job entails shift work, including nights and weekends. Overtime to replace colleagues during holidays or periods of sick-leave and to supervise out-of-hours receptions forms an integral part of this position.
