Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
The British Embassy Harare has a vacancy for a Deputy Security Manager. This is a full-time role on a fixed-term 2 year contract. Reporting to the Regional Overseas Security Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of security – people and assets – for the British Embassy and the Department for International Development. The ideal candidate is someone with a background in security management looking for an opportunity to expand their skills and experience with a leading organisation. Candidates who would prefer to take on this role on a job-share basis should indicate this in their application.



MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIE
Management of security at the British Embassy and Department for International Development
Provision of advice, guidance and briefings on security risks, policies, and systems.
Undertaking risk assessments, suggesting and costing strategies, and implementing measures.
Responding to security emergencies on a 24-hour basis and deputising for the Regional Overseas Security Manager as the Incident Control Officer.
Acting as Post’s fire safety manager, working together with the health and safety manager ensuring fire safety systems are in place and up to date.


Essential qualifications and experience

Ability and willingness to undergo a security vetting process
Excellent English language skills (written and verbal)
Good IT skills including Microsoft office ( Word and Excel)
A minimum of 2 years experience working for a diplomatic mission or in managing a security team or having a professionally recognised qualification in the field of security would be beneficial.
