Job Description:
The Weapons Maintenance Trainer/Mentor will Train, Advise, Assist and Mentor (TAAM) the SOB and all subordinate organization counterparts. The Weapons Maintenance Trainer shall implement and operate programs, practices, and procedures for developing optimal utilization of maintenance personnel. Design and administer programs to train all levels of personnel on coordination of weapons maintenance. When necessary, develop tests and visual aids, coordinate class arrangements, conduct training classes, develop criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities, and develop train the trainer classes. Develop programs and practices to identify developmental needs including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments. If required, may use technical experts to assist in training
The mentor has an expeditionary role and will perform Expeditionary Train, Advise and Assist (ETAA) missions.
• Monitor training and actively assists or provide direction as needed.
o Creating, maintaining and delivering to the Team Leader and Deputy Program Manager all required reports.
o Provide to the Team Leader and Deputy Program Manager all required data/information for monthly performance review and training reports.

Work Hours:
Standard will be 6 days/wk for up to 10 hrs/day while OCONUS and 40 hrs/wk while OCONUS

Responsibilities:
Trainer/Mentor will TAAM counterparts on duties and responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:
Repair, service, and cannibalization; weapons condition codes; weapon maintenance repair levels; weapons maintenance flow chart IAW ANA Weapon Maintenance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Decree 4.9, 12
Direct and General Support level (Depot level) maintenance of the following specific (but not limited to) weapon systems: M4, M9, M240, M249, M203, M24 Sniper Systems, 60MM Mortars, 81MM Mortars, M1014 Shotgun, M2, MK19, AK-47 series, PKM, RPG series, 82 MM Mortars and additional weapons systems added to the Tashkil or issued to the SOB/SOK.

May be responsible for making on the scene decisions as to how to execute the curriculum
Will be responsible for assessing how well
the students have learned the coursework
Required Qualifications:
Former Armorer (E-7 or above) or service equivalent with four to eight years’ experience.
Small Arms repair experience with M2, M4, M10, M110, M240, M249, M203, M24 Sniper Systems, 60MM Mortars, 81MM Mortars, and M1014 Shotgun.
Previous combat experience required.
Competent with operating Personal Computer skills & Microsoft Office
Excellent Leadership, Organizational and Project Mgmt Skills
Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.
Must possess a US Passport with at least 6 months of remaining eligibility
Must be able to obtain a Visa for Afghanistan
Physical & Mental Requirements:


This is an ARMED position. Must obtain and maintain eligibility to possess & operate a firearm in Afghanistan (AFG). As a business necessity, must successfully complete/maintain arming requirements including but not limited to: Psychological evaluation (initial evaluation & annual reevaluations); Completion of Civilian Arming Authorization Mgmt System (CAAMS) requirements/documentation & Arming Authorization Letter from US Forces AFG; Afghan weapons permit from the Afghan Ministry of the Interior
Wear required personal protective gear: body armor, helmet, etc. Independently lift/carry duffle bags with a max weight of 70 lbs/piece & move across uneven terrain
Work & live in AFG with potential assignment to any location in AFG based upon needs of the U.S. Gov’t
Meet medical requirements for position as determined by a pre-employment medical screening & published CRC and USCENTCOM medical deployment standards
Walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to 8 hours/day & sit for up to 3 hours/day; climb/descend stairs; grasp or handle objects; use finger dexterity; bend elbows/knees; reach above/below shoulders; read/interpret typewritten print; communicate by voice & detect sound by ear
Work, live & respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances in a potentially hostile environment - at remote locations, under austere conditions - with extreme aircraft noise, hostile fire, other acts of aggression and/or extreme weather conditions

Min 12 months previous experience in Afghanistan.
Special Operations weapon smith preferred.Experience supporting Special Operations Forces (SOF).
Security Clearance Requirement:
Must have an active/current DoD SECRET security clearance
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree from accredited school & four (4) years of related experience, OR two (2) years related experience with Master's degree. Eight (8) years of additional equivalent work experience (12 total years) may be accepted in lieu of BA/BS education requirement.
