Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Secret clearance is required.
Responsibilities:
Work as an embedded adviser to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Peace Support Training Center (PSTC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and act as the primary point of contact for all U.S. government efforts with the PSTC
Provide consulting to PSTC leadership and staff on PSTC operations to include organization, management, personnel, training, infrastructure requirements, and logistics operational support
Develop curriculum focused on peacekeeping operations using African Union (AU) and United Nations (UN) doctrine, policy, and training materials
Apply knowledge of peacekeeping operations and military training expertise to assess Ethiopia’s peacekeeping operations training procedures for supporting deploying peacekeeping elements
The advisor’s ultimate goal is to help the PSTC achieve a sustainable institutional foundation to train Ethiopia’s deploying peacekeeping elements in support of UN, AU or other regional missions
Requirements:
Secret Clearance Required
BA/BS Degree required
10+ years of military experience
5+ years of experience in military training doctrine and curriculum development
5+ years of experience working in Africa
Experience with collecting, compiling, analyzing, and synthesizing information to determine requirements, needs, and the implementation of training solutions
Ability to work with partner nation senior military stakeholders, present command–level briefings, and coordinate and schedule training delivery
Demonstrated knowledge of African Union and/or United Nations peacekeeping operations
Experience with conducting site surveys related to the identification of optimal training and processes for improving training
Ability to self—motivate and work to add value to the organization
Possession of excellent interpersonal skills
Willing to relocate to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for up to 24 months
