Regional Roving Security Adviser
Location: Central West Africa and Latin America

Do you want to be part of the Regional Office team for West and Central Africa? NRC is looking for a highly motivated people-oriented and fluent English and French speaking Roving Regional Security Adviser. The Central West Africa-Regional Office currently serves country operations in Mali, Nigeria, Cameroon, the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and is currently based out of the NRC Head office in Oslo. In June, it was decided that the Regional Office should move closer to its operations with the establishment of a Regional Office in Dakar, Senegal by July 2018.
The Roving Regional Security Adviser serves as the lead technical resource on security, risk and crisis management within the Central and West Africa region and serves as a core member of the regional crisis management team. The Roving Regional Security Adviser acts as the technical reference for Country Security Advisors or equivalent within the region.
The Regional Roving Security Adviser reports to the Regional Director, has a technical line to Global Security and is a member of the Regional Management Group
Main tasks:
Advises the Regional Director and Country Security Advisers on security risk management, in line with established NRC Security Risk Management policies, standards and procedures.
Acts as the technical reference/resource for Country Security Advisers within the region. Reviews and provides feedback to Country Security Advisers on all security products, such as plans, reports, assessments, to ensure they comply with NRC standards and ensure copies are sent to Head Office Security for filing.
Serves as a member of the regional crisis management team, deploys to support country crisis teams within the region upon request, and contributes to the development of crisis management capacity within the region
Monitors and supports the implementation of global Security initiatives from Head Office.
Trains and mentors Country Security Advisers or equivalent in the region on security trainings aimed for in particular national staff safety, security and risk management
Ensures that Regional Office staff receives security inductions and complete the necessary trainings.
Provides technical guidance on specialised issues such as humanitarian access, negotiations and risk management upon request.
