THE OPPORTUNITY
This is an opportunity to join our Corporate Risk team as a Security and Safety Advisor. The British Council Risk function works to support management, in identifying and preparing for the threats to our success. We engage globally with senior managers in the 110+ countries where the British Council operates.
The Safety & Security team provides forward thinking leadership to advise senior managers in countries, on risks to our operations.
The role will involve but is not limited to:
Supporting the Head of Safety & Security in maintaining and delivering strategic direction and operational security and safety management
Regional lead for Safety & Security in nominated regions developing the impact of the regional safety and security network; , providing advice and analysing potential risks to the organisation , ensuring that the security and safety management is effective
Supporting operational business teams with pragmatic advice,guidance, tools and assurance through routine reviews to ensure that our duty of care is being addressed
This is a permanent opportunity, based from our London or Manchester office, in the UK. Developed Vetting security clearance is required for this role.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate must have:
Proven experience of working in a security and safety risk management role
Sound experience of complex organisational security issues with strong health and safety knowledge
An ability to demonstrate working in a challenging environment
Good communications skills as well as being able to communicate with non-technical audience
Analytical skills
A structured approach to solution development
Track record of analysing potential risks, promoting risk awareness, and holding others to account for their practices in challenging environment
